New City College is officially Outstanding!
We are incredibly proud to have been awarded an Outstanding grade by Ofsted following an inspection in March 2025.
This is the highest possible accolade from Ofsted, and New City College is the largest college in the country to have achieved this status. Inspectors gave fantastic feedback across every aspect of our work and we are absolutely thrilled that they have rated us as Outstanding – praising the high-quality curriculum, the inclusive and ambitious culture with innovative learning opportunities, the exceptional support given to students, the mutual respect students have towards each other and their teachers, and the inspirational leadership that drives everything we do.

Students find their studies demanding and highly rewarding. Our teachers are subject experts and teach the curriculum exceptionally well so that students quickly develop a wide range of knowledge, skills and behaviours. This helps them succeed in their courses and progress to their next steps.

We set high expectations of students’ attendance and punctuality. Teachers consistently reinforce these expectations and provide rigorous challenge when they are not met. Students with high needs study in highly supportive environments.
Our staff know their students very well and fully understand their specific needs. They work closely with therapists and other professionals to develop helpful learning resources and teaching strategies to support learners in expressing their emotions and communicating independently.

Apprentices benefit from expert teachers and high-quality learning resources that closely replicate work environments.
Our workshops are well-resourced, and students gain valuable hands-on experience with tools and equipment commonly used in industry. This includes low carbon and retrofit labs with heat pumps, solar photovoltaic systems and electrical vehicle charging stations.
